Drivers, to Your Vehicles I’

‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles I’ was taken on the first day of the revival, seeing an array of greens and yellows lining the assembly area.

Originally named, ‘Racing Green’, it changed, reminding you of not only the noise of the cars revving, but also the sound of one line. ‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles’. A line said every time it was near time for the cars to get on track.

Here we see the drivers getting ready to leave with one in focus especially, seen getting his helmet on before jumping into his Grand Prix car to compete in The Glover Trophy.

The Glover Trophy, which raced Grand Prix cars from 1961-65, is named after the non-championship event that used to be held at Goodwood between the years 1949 to ‘65, also known as the Richmond Trophy.

‘Drivers, Can You Feel the Heat?’

An experimental work on ‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles I’, ‘Drivers, Can You Feel the Heat?’ works to evoke the feelings of temperature often the cars exude from the piping hot engines under the conductive metal sheets.

Giving the connotations of a heat map, the duality of dark shades to the fluorescent orange allows the photo to come alive when in comparison to it’s counterpart.

‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles II’

Another experimental work based on ‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles I’, ‘Drivers, to Your Vehicles II’ (II) looks to make the reader notice different features of it’s brothers, offering a pastel palette.

While ‘Drivers, Can You Feel the Heat?’ draws on the heat of the cars, II looks to draw attention to the weather. The pastel pink with the lighter yellow allows us to see the sunlight’s caress across the image.

In doing so, one vehicle immediately stands out, quite literally shadowing it’s driver, a main focus in the original image.
