‘Pitstop I’

‘Pitstop I’ shows a bird eye view on a Lotus-BRM 24 driven by it’s owner, Federico Buratti. Showing the car leaving the pitlane during a practice session, the photo aims to give the audience the experience of being at a 1960s Grand Prix race.

Peering over at the car below, the crooked angle and lack of cropping gives an appearance of human sight. It’s imperfect, like our vision.

The Lotus - BRM 24, named due to the marriage of the Lotus chassis and BRM engine, was much a carry over from the Lotus 21, made different by the drastic engine regulation changes 1961 saw, seeing 1.5 litre rules arrive.

Pitstop II’

‘Pitstop II’, while not be hugely different from it’s predecessor, furthers it’s want to give audiences an authentic view into the past.

With sepia tones meaning stronger shadows and darker colours, the Lotus blue turns navy and it’s red nose more seductive. It changes from merely a POV to a memory, feeling as if we all remember this exact moment.

In doing so, it unites us into sharing the image and recalling on our own motorsport experiences, questioning how long it will be until our own memories of the sport become remnants of a type of racing gone.
